Welcome
The Hampshire or Hampshire Down is a sheep breed which originated around 1829 in the rich agricultural country of Hampshire, in Southern England. The first Hampshire's were imported to South Africa in 1942. The breed has developed to produce terminal sires for commercial flocks. Hampshire sired lambs are easy-care with easy lambing and early maturing to produce quality butchers' lambs. Lambs are quick to suckle and are hardy from an early age. The carcass is well fleshed with a high eye muscle score. Hampshire Down rams are long lived and vigorous and is able to cover a good number of ewes each season.
